Your privacy is important to us

Gordian Partners is committed to protecting your privacy and understands the importance of the security of your personal information. We train our staff to respect the confidentiality of customer information and individual privacy.
 
This Privacy Policy outlines how we manage the personal data of our clients, job applicants, prospective employees, and individuals whose information is collected from third parties. If you are a prospective employee who is ultimately employed by us, this Privacy Policy will no longer apply to any personal information that forms part of your "employee records," as defined in the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) ("Act").
 
Gordian Partners' Privacy Policy is developed in accordance with The Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Act. We take a high level of care to ensure that the information you provide remains private and is used solely for the purpose you intended.

1. What is personal information?
Personal information is information or an opinion about you. This ranges from sensitive data (e.g., medical history) to everyday details (e.g., address and phone number). This includes:

  • Contact details, work experience, and qualifications.

  • Tax File Number (TFN), superannuation, and bank account details.

  • Salary/wages and aptitude test results.

  • Criminal history checks and references regarding work performance.

  • Information relating to workplace incidents or absences (leave/illness).
     

2. What is sensitive information?
Sensitive information is a special category under the Act. It includes information about your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, professional associations, sexual orientation, or criminal records.
Note: We will only collect sensitive information if it is necessary to facilitate recruitment and only with your explicit permission.
 
3. How do we collect personal information?
We typically collect information directly from you when you:

  • Meet with us in person or contact us via phone/email.

  • Visit or apply for a job via the Gordian Partners website.

  • Engage with us via social media.

We may also collect information from third parties, such as Seek, LinkedIn, or during reference checks. We may receive results from competency tests or background checks. We usually require signed consent to obtain data from third parties unless consent is provided in another manner.
 
4. How do we use your personal information?
We use your information for the primary purpose for which it was collected, or related secondary purposes permitted by law. Specific purposes include:

  • Recruitment Operations: Matching your details against suitable vacancies.

  • Contractor Management: Servicing your requirements if employed by us on a temporary basis.

  • Marketing & Information: Notifying you of job alerts, market trends, and career events.

  • Quality & Relationship Management: Conducting feedback surveys and maintaining business relationships.
     

5. Sharing your personal information
We may disclose your personal information to:

  • Prospective employers and external organizations seeking labor.

  • Referees, educational institutions, and former employers.

  • Professional advisors (accountants, lawyers) and our related contractors/suppliers.

Gordian Partners will not share, sell, or distribute your personal information without your consent unless required by law.
 
6. Overseas Data Transfer
Some of our service providers may be located outside of Australia (e.g., Singapore, Philippines, or the USA). We ensure these providers offer a level of protection similar to Australian law through robust service agreements.
 
7. Data Security and Retention
We hold information in secure computer storage and paper-based files. Access is restricted to authorized employees. We hold your information for as long as necessary to provide recruitment services and will dispose of it securely when it is no longer required or upon your request.

Accessing and Correcting Your Information

Access

Subject to exceptions in the APPs, you can request access to your data. Requests must be made in writing to our Directors with proof of identity. A moderate charge may apply for providing access.

Correction

If your information is inaccurate or out of date, please contact us. You also have the right to withdraw consent for data collection at any time. To do so, please contact your Gordian Partners consultant or email our office.

Website and Third Parties

Our website gathers aggregate, anonymous data (e.g., most visited areas) to improve user experience. Our site may contain links to other websites; we are not responsible for the privacy practices of those external sites.
